Aisling Bea

Aisling was born on March 16 1984 on the island of Kildare Ireland. She is one of Ireland's best-known and well-known comedians. Bea has appeared on QI along with Stephen Fry. Aisling Claiodhnadh, or Aisling "Bea", is an Irish actor and writer. She was born on March 16, 1984. Bea was first able to make a name for herself in stand-up comedy in 2011, following small parts she played on Irish and British television dramas from 2009. The comedian began to appear regularly on sketch comedy and sitcoms in 2012. She began appearing regularly in panel shows following her win of an award at The Edinburgh Comedy Awards. From 2016 to 2017 she was a team captain on 8 Out of 10 Cats as well as a frequent participant for the spinoff 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown. She was the child of Brian O'Sullivan and Helen O'Sullivan. Sinead is her younger sister. In 2012 she was the second woman ever to be awarded the So You Think You Are Funny Award. Bea's father Brian who was an equine vet who took his own life when Bea reached the age of three, was a suicide victim. She was told about his passing at 13 years old. Her stage name Bea was in tribute to her father. She wrote an opinion piece in The Guardian, published in 2017 on her journey dealing with suicide. Bea as well as her sister Sinead were taken care of by their maternal grandmother Helen (nee Moloney) who was a secondary school teacher and jockey trainer, as well as a professional jockey for a time. Their family was horse and race meeting obsessed. Bea spent her childhood as a tour guide at the Irish National Stud. From a very young age, Bea knew that she did not want to pursue a racing career. Instead she loved the performance arts.
